6. STARTING PROCEDURE AFTER
INSTALLING THE ENGINE
- Engine assembly removal
- Cylinder head removal
- Oil case removal
After completing the above procedures, assemble the
outboard motor and perform as following:
1) Adjust the shift cable (P. 3-20).
2) Adjust the throttle cable (P. 3-17).
3) Connect commercially available digital multimeter or HDS
(Dr. H or pocket tester) (P. 3-16, 17).
4) Start the engine and let it run to check that the oil indicator
light (green) comes on. After checking, return the engine
speed to the idle speed.
Specified idle speed
(At neutral)
If the oil indicator light (green) does not come on within 10
seconds after starting the engine, the oil alert system is
activated and the warning buzzer operates.
If that happens, stop the engine and repeat the above
procedures,starting with from step 1).
If the oil indicator light (green) still does not come on,
perform the alert system troubleshooting (P. 2-35) and
repeat the above procedures, starting with from step 1.
