5) Connect the fuel tube A to the "
joint of the fuel strainer [low pressure side].

Connect while aligning the " " mark on the fuel tube A/B
with the projection on the fuel strainer [low pressure side]

7) Install the tube clip B12 so that its tab is toward the
projection on the fuel strainer [low pressure side].

After connecting the tubes, check for gasoline leakage from
each joint.

8) Install the fuel strainer [low pressure side] on the fuel
strainer stay.

9) Install the engine cover (P. 4-2).

9. IDLE SPEED

Inspection:
Check the following before starting the idle speed inspection.

• Spark plug electrodes (P. 3-8).
• MIL is OFF.

1) Place the outboard motor vertically (with the engine level)
and move the shift to the "N" (Neutral) position.

2) Remove the propeller. Set the outboard motor gear case in

a test tank filled with water.
3) Remove the engine cover (P. 4-2).

4) Install a commercially available digital tachometer or HDS
20
(Dr. H or pocket tester).
Using a commercially available digital tachometer:
a) Set the clip of the digital tachometer on the high tension
cord as shown.
Using the HDS (Dr. H or pocket tester):
a) Disconnect the 4P connector [Red].
b) Connect the HDS 4P connector to the DLC (Data Link
Connector).
