c. DISASSEMBLY
NOTICE
1
When using a vise to disassemble the power trim/tilt assembly,
do not tighten the vise excessively. The cylinder comp. can be
2
damaged. Be sure to set the vise on the specified positions of
the power trim/tilt assembly (P. 14-9).
3
• Do not disassemble the gear pump assembly. If it is faulty,
replace it as an assembly.
4
• Do not use a shop towel, cloth or gloves during disassembly.
• Do not reuse the drained ATF (automatic transmission fluid).
5
• Clean the removed parts in fresh ATF and blow each port of
the parts with compressed air. Set the parts neatly in a
suitable container with care not to contaminate them with
6
durst or dirt.
• Do not reuse the O-rings and oil seals.
7
• Remove the piston rod, valves and sleeve with care not to
damage the sliding surfaces.
8
Check that the piston rod of the power trim/tilt assembly is
9
extended fully.
If the piston rod has been pushed in, remove the power trim/tilt
assembly from the outboard motor. Connect the battery
10
positive (+) cable to the green terminal of the power tilt motor
2P connector and connect the battery negative (-) cable to the
11
blue terminal. Start the motor assembly until the piston rod
extends fully.
12
NOTICE
Connect the battery cables to the power tilt motor 2P connector
13
terminals with care not to short-circuit the connector.
14
15
16
17
1) Loosen the manual valve fully.
18
2) Remove the oil tank cap and drain the residual AFT
(automatic transmission fluid) from the oil tank through the
19
bolt hole.
20
• Check the O-ring on the oil tank cap for deterioration or
cuts, and replace it with a new one if necessary.
• Do not push in the piston rod during draining the ATF.
