K-MINC-2000 Instructions for Use
1.5 Safety instructions
WARNING: It is essential to use this manual to familiarize
yourself with the safety instructions, device functions, and
operation before use. Not following these instructions can result
in damage or breakdown of the device and device contents
and/or user injury. This device should be used only by qualified
personnel.
WARNING: ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD. The equipment is to
be used only with electrical systems complying with all IEC, CEC,
and NEC requirements.
Internal circuitry is energized whenever the MINC+ is connected
to mains power, irrespective of the displays being illuminated.
Always disconnect the device from mains power before cord
replacement or cleaning. Should any power cord or plug
associated with the MINC+ become cracked, frayed, broken, or
damaged, it must be replaced immediately.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove covers. Please
refer all servicing to the Cook Medical service agent.
WARNING: Do not sterilize the device.
WARNING: There are no user-serviceable parts inside the device.
Any adjustment, modification, or repairs to the equipment should
be carried out only by persons authorized to perform them.
WARNING: Protect the incubator from being splashed by liquid.
Should any liquid enter the device, discontinue use immediately.
WARNING: EXPLOSION HAZARD. Do not use the MINC+ in an
area where flammable gases are present.
The MINC+ can cause explosion in the presence of flammable
gases.
WARNING: BIOLOGICAL HAZARD. Do not use a contaminated
humidification flask in the MINC+.
If the humidification flasks are used continuously, they may be
used until the water level reaches the MIN FILL line on the front
of the flask.
If the humidification flasks are not used continuously, there may
be an increased risk of biological contamination. If the device is
not in use, remove the flasks and replace with new flasks upon
startup.
Do not refill the humidification flasks.
WARNING: GAS UNDER PRESSURE. Use only the PTFE-lined gas
connecting hose supplied with the MINC+ Benchtop Incubator
to connect it to a gas supply. The use of another tubing type or
hose may result in the loss of desired gas concentrations.
WARNING: For your own safety, use only Cook branded
consumables and spare parts.

2.2 Indications for use
The MINC+ Benchtop Incubator is indicated to be used in the assisted
reproduction technology as part of the process to treat infertile patients.
2.3 Intended users and use environment

embryologists. Service personnel may install the MINC+ Benchtop
Incubator and will routinely service the device.
The MINC+ Benchtop Incubator is intended to be used within an IVF
laboratory.
2.4 Contraindications
There are no known contraindications for this device.
2.5 Device description
The MINC+ includes the following features:
• Two incubation chambers (located on the left and right) to hold culture
dishes.
• Two humidification flasks (located on the left and right) containing
water for humidifying the gas supplied to each incubation chamber.
• DishTrace MINC+ – Dish data management via the center console.
• DishTrace PC – Software for dish record management on networked PC.
• Left and right keypads for controlling respective incubation chambers,
parameters and humidification flasks' water level monitoring.
• Left and right incubator chamber status screens, which indicate current
chamber operating environment.
• Media warming chamber (MWC) – Located between the incubation
chambers.
The MINC+ contains two individual incubation chambers with
independent temperature control that can be selected in the range of
35 °C to 40 °C. There is also gas flow provided independently to each
chamber at a nominal fixed flow rate of 25 mL/min to optimize culture
conditions inside the incubation chambers.
Premixed gas is supplied to each incubation chamber independently
through a humidification flask. The gas is humidified as it passes through
the water inside the flask. The use of humidified gas may reduce the
evaporation rate of culture media during incubation.
Each incubation chamber has an individual control panel to turn the
chamber on or off, set the desired temperature, activate the water level
monitoring (in the humidification flasks), and control the gas flow status.
