K-MINC-2000 Instructions for Use
5.3.1 Placing test tubes inside the media warming chamber (MWC)
IMPORTANT NOTE: The MWC is not a gassed environment and is
heated independently of the incubation chambers.
The removable MWC cradle can hold six (6) test tubes. The MWC cradle
is compatible with BD Falcon tubes (17 mm diameter, 100 mm long) with
1
the test tube caps in either the raised or lowered position. Equivalent test
tubes can be used, however the user is responsible to ensure the tube
fitment within the MWC cradle and the MWC lid can fully close.
The MWC lid must be kept closed when warming media. The MWC
temperature alarm is deactivated when the lid is opened, and remains
so for 120 minutes on lid closure to allow media to equilibrate without
causing a temperature out of range alarm.
The colors of the three lights on the front panel below the MWC lid
indicate the chamber temperature status as follows:
• Green indicates that the MWC is within ± 0.5 °C of the set point
temperature.
• Amber indicates that the MWC is equilibrating to temperature when
the alarm is deactivated or within ± 0.5 °C to ± 1 °C of the set point
temperature during normal operation.
• Red indicates that the MWC is out of range of the set point temperature
by more than ± 1 °C during normal operation. Refer to Section 5.6.6 for
alarm condition details.
DishTrace
The DishTrace software can be used to assign logged data to identified
dishes in the MINC+ incubation chambers. DishTrace has two
components:
• DishTrace MINC+ – Installed on the incubator and accessed via the
center console.
• DishTrace PC – Software that can be installed on a PC to access and
make available dish information to connected MINC+ devices.
5.4 DishTrace MINC+
The DishTrace MINC+ enables environmental and placement information
to be logged via the center console touchscreen to a dish record and
to record when dishes are placed in and taken out of the incubation
chambers.
Dish logging actions in DishTrace MINC+ are performed under the
Contents menu option on the center console. This menu allows users to
add new dishes, edit dish records, assign dishes to a location, and review
dish status and settings.
Dish data entered via the DishTrace MINC+ can also be viewed with the
DishTrace PC software described in Section 5.5.
WARNING: DishTrace MINC+ is only an aid to logging and viewing
the location of dishes within the MINC+. DO NOT use DishTrace to replace
laboratory identification protocols for dishes and their contents. Always
use dish identity checking processes such as standard laboratory protocols
(including, for example, individual dish labeling and identification
verification processes) to minimize the risk of incorrect dish identification.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Dishes can be assigned to a location in the
incubation chambers only via the center console of the MINC+ in which
the dish is being placed. They cannot be assigned to a specific location in a
MINC+ via the DishTrace PC software (see Section 5.5).
5.4.1 Resetting the center console touchscreen (DishTrace MINC+)
If the center console touchscreen does not respond at any time, it can be
reset without interrupting the incubation chambers.
1. On the back of the MINC+, locate the DishTrace MINC+ reset button.
Refer to the diagram under Section 4.4 for more information.
2. Press and release the button once and wait for the center console to
reset.
5.4.2 DishTrace MINC+ setup
IMPORTANT NOTE: It is necessary to set the Time and Date, because
event logs are timestamped with the time settings in the MINC+. Refer to
Section 4.12.4 for more information.
The Contents tab displays the dishes assigned to locations in each
incubation chamber. The following describes dish management actions
that can be performed on the center console. Refer to Section 5.4.8
to automatically display dish assignment options on lid opening. Dish
locations can have three different statuses: Unassigned, Assigned/
Checked In, and Assigned/Checked Out:
Dish status
Description
Unassigned
Empty black square or circle (varies according
to the type of dish configuration selected under
the Settings screen) – No dish is assigned to the
location.
Assigned/
Solid light green square or circle – A dish has
Checked In
been added to the incubator chamber at the
highlighted location.
Assigned/
Outlined circle or square – This space is assigned
Checked Out
to a dish that has been temporarily removed
from the chamber.
5.4.3 Assigning dishes to a chamber
To assign a new dish to a chamber
1. Tap an unassigned dish location on the Contents screen. The
following menu appears:
2. Tap Assign New Dish to allocate a new dish to a position in the
chamber. A new dish is a dish that has not had its details entered into
the MINC+.
3. Enter dish identification: First Name, Last Name, Patient ID, and/or
a Dish ID. The chosen Primary Dish ID must be entered as minimum
to correctly display the dish identification. Refer to Section 5.4.13 to
set Primary Dish ID. Other fields are optional or maybe left blank.
4. Press Save to continue. The new dish has now been assigned and
checked into the incubation chamber.
To assign an existing dish
An existing dish is a dish that has already had its details entered using the
DishTrace PC software (see Section 5.5.11).
1. Tap an unassigned dish location on the center console.
2. Select Assign Existing Dish.
3. Select the desired dish from the list of existing dishes, and assign it to
the new location.
5.4.4 Checking out a dish
Use this function to check out a dish from its assigned location when a
dish is physically removed from the incubator chamber.
1. Tap the dish location of a dish that is checked in. The following menu
will appear:
2. Select Check Out Dish.
