K-MINC-2000 Instructions for Use
4.14.2 Turning the incubation chamber heater on or off
1. Touch the Unlock button for two seconds. The keypad will beep on
touch and the backlight will come on when the keypad is active.
2. Touch and quickly release the Enable/disable incubation chamber
heater button. This will toggle the chamber on or off, depending on
1
the current state. The state will be displayed on the chamber's display
screen.
3. The new changes to the heating state will be saved automatically.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When the chamber heater is turned on, the
temperature display will be yellow as it warms up to within 0.2 °C of
the temperature set point. When the temperature is within 0.2 °C of the
temperature set point, the display will turn green.
4.14.3 Incubation chamber temperature selection
When the device is first turned on, it will default to a temperature of
37.0 °C. The incubation chamber displays will show both the temperature
set points and actual temperatures of each chamber in degrees Celsius (°C).
Adjusting the incubation chamber temperature set point.
1. Touch the Unlock button for 2 seconds. The keypad will beep on
touch and the backlight will come on when the keypad is active.
2. Repeatedly touch and release the Increase/decrease chamber
temperature set point buttons for that chamber until the desired
temperature set point is displayed on the chamber display screen.
The set point is displayed on the chamber display screen in white
text immediately above the increase/decrease temperature set point
buttons. The temperature can be adjusted in 0.1 °C increments,
within a range of 35.0 °C to 40.0 °C. The new changes to the state are
saved automatically.
4.14.4 Lid openings
Opening the incubation chamber lid causes the open incubation
chamber lid icon to display on the chamber display screen. A warning
beep will emit from the MINC+ approximately every 15 seconds to alert
the user that the lid is open. After the lid is closed and the latch is moved
to the closed position, the chamber temperature will display on the
chamber display screen, the warning beep will stop, and an entry will
display on the center console to log the event.
Opening the lid
1. Unlock the latch to the fully open position.
2. Use the front lip to lift the lid open. The lid will maintain its opening
position from approximately a 45° angle to the fully open position.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When a lid is opened and then closed, or when the
gas flow is started, the chamber is automatically purged to quickly reestablish
the appropriate gaseous environment. The gas-purge flow rate is preset.
Each chamber performs the gas-purge cycle independently of the other
incubation chamber.
Closing the lid
1. Ensure that the latch is in the OPEN position (pointing towards the
front of the device).
2. Hold the front lip and lower the lid until fully closed.
3. After the lid is closed, move the latch from the OPEN to CLOSE
position to complete the closure of the chamber.
4. The open incubation chamber lid icon will then disappear from the
chamber display screen, the incubation chamber temperature will
display, and the gas-purge cycle will begin for that chamber.

4.14.5 Incubation chamber gas flow
The rate of gas flow into each incubation chamber is not adjustable and is
calibrated at sea level to a normal flow rate of 25 mL/min and a gas purge
flow rate of 300 mL/min. The gas supply pressure at the MINC+ gas inlet is
150 kPa ± 15 kPa.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The MINC+ measures the gas flow rate internally
prior to the gas entering the humidification bay. There is no mechanism
to verify that the rate of gas flow into each chamber is correct. Users must
visually ensure that the humidification flask and Braided Connecting Tube are
correctly installed so that the gas flows into each chamber. To verify that the
flow is unobstructed, look for rising bubbles at the front of the humidification
flasks. Each chamber's heater must be on to enable gas flow into the chamber.
Turning the gas flow ON
1. Touch the Unlock button for 2 seconds. The MINC+ will beep on
touch and the backlight will come on when the keypad is active.
2. Touch and release the Enable/disable gas flow button. The
chamber's status screen will display the gas purge icon, indicating
that the gas flow is enabled. The MINC+ will begin a gas purge cycle
for approximately 3 minutes and then go into normal flow operation.
The state will be saved automatically.
Turn the gas flow OFF
1. Touch the Unlock button for two seconds. The MINC+ will beep on
touch and the backlight will come on when the keypad is active.
2. Touch and release the Enable/disable gas flow button. The chamber
status screen will display the Gas flow disabled icon indicating that
the gas flow is disabled for that chamber. The state will be saved
automatically.
4.14.6 Turning on water level monitoring for the humidification flask
1. Touch the Unlock button for two seconds. The MINC+ will beep on
touch and the backlight will come on when the keypad is active.
2. Touch and release the Enable/disable humidification flask water
level monitoring button. The water level indicator icon will show
that the water monitoring is enabled and the amount of water in the
humidification flask. The state will be saved automatically.
4.14.7 Media warming chamber (MWC)
Figure 14: Media warming chamber
Setting the media warming chamber temperature.
1. Touch the Unlock button for two seconds. The MINC+ will beep on
touch and the backlight will come on when the keypad is active.
2. Lift the lid of the MWC.
3. Press the MWC temperature-adjust buttons until the desired
temperature set point is displayed on the display screen in the MWC.
The state will be saved automatically.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The MWC will stop regulating to its temperature
set point if both left and right incubation chambers are turned OFF. If the
media warming chamber temperature is out of range, open and close the
MWC lid or toggle both incubation chambers OFF and then ON to reset it.
