Fault
Engine does not start.
Engine runs unevenly

Possible cause
No fuel in the tank
Stale fuel.
Engine in cold state, choke not actuated. Pull out choke.
Spark-plug lead not connected.
Spark plug dirty or defective.
Throttle is not in position
Blocked petrol line.
Fuse defective.
Starter defective.
Choke lever set to "CHOKE/ ".
Spark-plug lead loosely connected.
Stale fuel.
Water or dirt in the fuel system.
Spark plug scorched, defective or gap
between electrodes too wide.
Petrol filter blocked.
Air filter clogged.
Inadequate engine oil.
Engine cooling fins dirty.
Action to take
Fill tank with clean, fresh and lead-free
fuel.
Drain stale fuel into a suitable container
outdoors. Fill tank with clean, fresh and
lead-free fuel.
Push spark-plug lead onto the spark plug.
Clean spark plug.
Re-adjust gap between electrodes or
change spark plug.

Clean petrol line *).
Have fuse replaced *).
Have starter checked *).
Set choke lever to "
Firmly connect spark-plug lead.
Drain stale fuel into a suitable container
outdoors. Fill tank with clean, fresh and
lead-free fuel.
Re-adjust gap between electrodes or
change spark plug.
Have petrol filter changed *).
Clean or replace air filter.
Fill crank case with appropriate amount of
oil.
Clean cooling fins.
