<Continuity check-commutator-to-core>
Check for continuity between any of the commutator segments
and the armature coil core.
Replace the armature if continuity exists.
<Continuity check-commutator-to-shaft>
Check for continuity between the commutator and the
armature shaft.
Replace the armature if continuity exists between any of the
commutator segments and the armature shaft.
• BRUSH CONTINUITY CHECK
Check for continuity between the brushes.
There should be continuity between both the positive brushes.
There should be continuity between both the negative brushes.
There should be continuity between both the positive and
negative brushes.
If necessary, replace the yoke assembly.
• OVERRUNNING CLUTCH
1) Check the overrunning clutch for smooth axial movement.
If necessary, apply oil or replace the overrunning clutch.
2) Hold the pinion gear as shown and check that the reduction
gear turns clockwise
counterclockwise.
3) Check the pinion gear for wear or damage and replace if
necessary.
• If the pinion gear is worn or damaged, the flywheel ring
gear must be inspected.
