Remove the spark plug and check for wet or
fouled electrodes.
Perform the spark test (P. 2-38).
Good spark
Check whether the auto choke shaft has
closed with the ignition switch turned ON.
The choke valve will be closed initially, then
it will be adjusted automatically according
to the temperature of the cylinder head
when the ignition switch is turned ON.
CHOKE SHAFT
Check the choke control motor (P. 4-10).
Check the harness connecting the choke
control motor and GCU for open or short
circuit and for proper connection.

• If flooding is severe, check the carburetor
float valve (P. 4-7).
Dry Check for restriction in the carburetor port,
nozzle, and jet.
No spark or
Perform
weak spark
troubleshooting (P. 2-35).
Good
Abnormal Replace the choke control motor (P. 4-6).
Abnormal Replace or repair the engine wire harness
and/or control wire harness.
Abnormal Turn the ignition switch OFF and then
restart the engine and check the error code.
If the same error occurs, replace the GCU (P.
6-6).
