Protection Mode

It is essential to read the following chapters carefully and familiarise yourself with the effects of the
"Protection Mode" before you enable and activate the function.

Inform the system operator and the persons who are responsible for maintenance of the system
about this function.
•
Note "Protection Mode" in the service documents and if necessary affix instructions to the system to
ensure that people who are not familiar with the system are made aware of the function during
service.
13.5.1

Designation

The Helios frequency converters listed in this assembly and operation specification have a special
function for controlling the speed of fans in safety systems.
The focus is on operating the fans to be controlled for as long and as reliably as possible in order to
enable the entire safety system (e.g. smoke protection pressure system, automatic smoke extraction
system etc.) to be operated for as long as possible.
These systems prioritise personal safety over protecting equipment.
Certain internal protective devices in the frequency converter (temperature shut-offs, power reduction,
etc.) and any motor protection devices connected to the fan (TP = thermistor, TB = thermostat, etc.)
are bypassed and do not lead to the system being shut down.

Note that "Protection Mode" can only be combined with speed controller mode
