5.2.2 UNCOUPLING MECHANICAL OR SPINDLE VERSION

1. Continue after steps 1 to 6 in 5.2 have been
completed.
BEFORE UNLOCKING STARTS, POSITION THE
ATTACHMENT IN A WAY THAT PREVENTS IT
BECOMING DETACHED FROM THE CW
QUICK COUPLER WHEN THE LOCKING
WEDGE IS UNLOCKED.
2. Position the CW quick coupler in such a way
that the locking wedge can be removed or
the spindle operated without anyone being
on or below the CW quick coupler, such as
the position shown in Figure 31.
3. Switch off the excavator.
IT IS PROHIBITED TO BE ON OR BELOW THE CW QUICK COUPLER OR ATTACHMENT WHILE UNLOCKING
OR REMOVING THE LOCKING WEDGE.
4. Unlock the mechanical version as described in 4A, and the spindle version as described in 4B.
4A. Mechanical version
The locking wedge must be completely removed. The locking wedge can weigh up to 45 kg, so
depending on the type of CW quick coupler it must be removed by 2 people. Then disassemble the
locking wedge by loosening the locking bolt (s) (see Section 1.3.2). See Table 6 on page 69 for the weights
of the locking wedge and specifications of the locking bolt(s). If the locking bolt(s) are untightened but
the locking wedge does not come loose, tap the centre of the locking wedge with a hammer until it does
come loose.
4B. Spindle version
Remove the locking bolt (see Section 1.3.3), and turn the spindle until the locking wedge is fully
unlocked. See Table 7 on page 70 for the specifications of the spindle and the locking bolt. If the
locking bolt has been untightened and the spindle has been loosened but the locking wedge does not
come loose, tap the centre of the locking wedge with a hammer until it does come loose.
