5 OPERATION:

Attachments may only be hooked onto the front shaft by operating the excavator. The attachment is then
attached to the rear shaft by extending the bucket cylinder, and locked hydraulically or mechanically by the
locking wedge.
In the case of a hydraulic version, the CW quick coupler may only be unlocked or locked from the excavator's
operating position. Mechanical or spindle CW quick couplers must only be locked and unlocked at the CW quick
coupler itself.
THE MAXIMUM PERMITTED LOADS ON THE CW QUICK COUPLER, THE OPTIONAL LIFTING HOOK, THE
OPTIONAL GRAPPLE SUSPENSION AND ATTACHMENTS COUPLED MUST NEVER BE EXCEEDED IN ANY
CIRCUMSTANCES!
WHEN UNLOCKING AND LOCKING, THE ATTACHMENT MUST BE POSITIONED IN A WAY THAT IT
CANNOT DETACH FROM THE CW QUICK COUPLER. IT IS ALSO PROHIBITEDTO BE ON OR BELOW THE
CW QUICK COUPLER OR ATTACHMENT DURING COUPLING, UNCOUPLING, LOCKING OR UNLOCKING
OF THE ATTACHMENT.
IT MAY BE THE CASE THAT YOUR EXCAVATOR IS USED AS A LIFTING MACHINE, HOIST, FOUNDATION
MACHINE ETC. INSTEAD OF AS AN EXCAVATOR, THROUGH THE USE OF THE OPTIONAL LIFTING HOOK
OR COUPLING THE APPROPRIATE ATTACHMENTS. THIS MAY REQUIRE ADDITIONAL SAFETY
MEASURES ON YOUR MACHINE. CONSULT YOUR MACHINE SUPPLIER FOR MORE INFORMATION.

5.1 COUPLING THE ATTACHMENT

Attachments may only be coupled from the operating position of the excavator, where the procedure described
below is followed. If in doubt, contact the supplier of the CW quick coupler.
1. The safety requirements specified in Section 2 must be met before coupling an attachment.
2. The periodic maintenance described in Section 6 must be carried out before using the CW quick
coupler.
3. Before coupling the attachment, determine whether the combination of attachment, CW quick
coupler and excavator is safe. The maximum permitted loads as indicated in Section 1.4 must not be
exceeded, and only attachments in the same CW class may be coupled.
THE CW CLASSES; 2, 3, 4, 4HD OR 2-S, 3-S, 4-S, HAVE EQUAL DIMENSIONS AT THE COUPLING POINTS,
AS SHOWN IN SECTION 1.2 .EQUAL DIMENSIONS AT THE COUPLING POINTS DOES NOT MEAN THAT
THESE ARE EQUAL IN STRUCTURAL TERMS. THE MAXIMUM PERMITTED LOADS ON THE CW QUICK
COUPLER OR THE COUPLED ATTACHMENT MUST NEVER BE EXCEEDED IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
4. Ensure that the coupling surfaces of both the CW quick coupler (see Section 1.3; front shaft, rear shaft,
locking wedge) and the coupling surfaces of the attachment are free from sand and other contaminants,
and that the coupling points are in good condition. See also Section 6, maintenance.
5. Make sure the excavator is level and stable.
6. To couple a attachment to a hydraulic CW quick coupler, follow the steps in Section 5.1.1. To couple a
attachment to a mechanical or spindle version, follow the steps in Section 5.1.2. To couple an
attachment to the optional grapple suspension, see Section 5.1.3.
