10 The route of the travspring™, travspring™ One
or travsmart lifeline has at least one access point
enabling the operator to safely connect their lanyard
with a slider, or a connector as appropriate, located
on or to be located on the lifeline.
11 The distance between end anchors for single span
lifeline (MP) is less than 30 m.
"Danger": If an anomaly is detected during these
checks,
the
component
travspring™ One or travsmart lifeline concerned shall
be discarded to prevent use and must be overhauled by
a trained and competent person (see Section 9).
6.3. Installation of structural anchors and
posts
6.3.1. General information
Structural anchors and posts (ASPI) for intermediary
anchors are disposed at intervals of between 5 and 15
meters between them and the ASPI at the end or next
angle. If the lifeline does not include any intermediary
anchor, the distance between ASPI and the end and
angle anchors will also be arranged at intervals
of between five and fifteen meters. travspring™,
travspring™ One or travsmart lifeline ASPI, as the case
may be, can be fixed either on a horizontal mounting
plane, inclined or underneath where the slope does
not exceed 15° from the horizontal, or on a vertical
mounting plane or on the underside as the case may
be (figures 4).
Moreover, in the case of an installation on a horizontal,
inclined or underneath mounting plane, the installer
must position the ASPI so that the cable of the
travspring™, travspring™ One or travsmart lifeline
depending on the case is not deflected through an
angle greater than 10° in installation plane, from the
passage in an intermediary anchor (figure 4). In the
case of an installation on a vertical mounting plane, the
installer must position the ASPI so that travspring™,
travspring™ One or travsmart lifeline cable is not
deflected by an angle greater than 15° on the
installation plane, from the passage in an intermediary
anchor (figure 4).
"Important": All M12 screws, nuts and securing
bolts, whether for structural fasteners, fastening end
and intermediate anchors on posts, tightening anchors
and brackets (travsmart) and fixing corner plates on
posts, must be tensioned to 3 +/- 0.5 daN.m. The
tightening torque for M16 screws of the angle pulley
bend pulley on the pulley post must be 6 +/- 1 daN.m.
of
the
travspring™,
6.3.2. Installation of posts
Depending on the posts defined by the preliminary
study, the installer proceeds to attach the posts in
accordance with the installation instructions supplied
with these posts. The shear resistance of the posts
should be at least the loads specified in Table 2,
page 19, depending on the type of travspring™,
travspring™ One or travsmart lifeline, the number of
operators and the type of intermediate end or corner
anchor.
6.3.3. Installation of structural anchors
Depending on the structural anchors defined by the
preliminary study where the diameter must be either
12 mm or 16 mm (pulley post), the installer will secure
these structural anchors in accordance with the
installation instructions provided with these anchors.
The tensile strength of these anchors must be at least
1150 daN for 12 mm diameter fasteners and 1500 daN
for 16 mm diameter fasteners.
"Note": Any other installation layout will be
subject to specific written consent from Tractel
6.4. Installation of the end anchors
6.4.1. General information
The end anchors are fixed on the structural anchors
and posts (ASPI) as defined in Section 6.3.1.
In standard delivery, the anchor end is equipped with
a quick link connector type (J) and this notice will be
placed in a polyethylene bag.
6.4.2. Installation on structural anchor
The following installation procedure refers to figures 5
and 6, page 5:
a Place the axis of the securing holes (item 2) in the
axis of the holes of the structural anchor (item 3).
b. Insert two bolts, depending on the case, in the
structural anchor (item 4) to affix to a metal structure
(figure 5); two screws or 2 threaded rods M12 as
pins (figure 6) in the case of securing onto a
concrete installation plane.
"Important": You must place an M12 stainless steel
washer (item 5) between the anchor end and the screw
head or nut of structural anchor (item 6 ).
c. Tighten the structural anchor M12 with one or two
19 spanners.
d. Align the end anchor in the angular position
recommended following the type of line securing
and tighten to the structural anchor to the torque
recommended in Section 6.3.1.
