BRAKE
HYDRAULIC DISC BRAKE
DANGER OF ACCIDENT!
• The maximum brake output is only achieved after a few brake processes with a
new brake disc or new brake linings!
DANGER
• The brake disc will grow very hot when braking and may cause burns. The disc
edges may also be very sharp and cause cutting injury. Therefore, do not touch
them while the disc is hot or turning.
• Use only mineral oil for the hydraulic brake system by Shimano. Otherwise,
there may be damage, malfunctions or even brake failure.
SETTING THE DISC BRAKE
Settings usually are not necessary at the hydraulic disc brake system. The brake linings centre inde-
pendently by actuation of the brake levers.
REPLACING THE BRAKE LINING
DANGER OF ACCIDENT AND DAMAGE!
• Replace the brake linings when their thickness is less than 0.5 mm. The brake
output may otherwise drop to complete loss of the brake force and the brake
DANGER
system may be damaged.
1. Loosen the two clamp screws
a 5 mm hexagonal socket wrench.
2. Take the brake calliper
3. Straighten the curved end of the safety pin
for this (e.g. pliers).
4. Pull out the safety pin
5. Replace the brake linings
6. Insert the safety pin
the pin cannot come free of the holder. Use suitable tools for this
(e.g. pliers).
7. Attach the calliper by tightening the two screws
mm hexagonal socket wrench.
8. Actuate the respective brake several times in order to centre the
new brake linings in the brake calliper. If there are still any grind-
ing sounds, adjust the brake as described.
