4.5.2. Description

The fusing kiln is used exclusively for thermal glass processing.
⇒
The fusing kiln is unsuitable for firing ceramic products due to the 1-sided heating and corresponding heat
distribution.
⇒
Only materials with known properties may be used (e.g. coefficient of thermal expansion [CTE]).
⇒
The processing of materials other than those intended, as well as the handling of hazardous substances or
substances that are hazardous to health, is considered improper and is prohibited.

Operation of the kiln with explosive gases and mixtures or explosive gases or mixtures generated during the
process is prohibited.
⇒
The intended use also includes compliance with the procedures described in these operating instructions
for installation, commissioning, maintenance, cleaning, repairs and in the event of faults.

The kiln may only be used as intended in the sense of the operating instructions and the accompanying
documents (e.g. the technical manual for the control system).
⇒
The kiln must not be operated beyond the use described above.
⇒
Combustible and impermissible materials that create explosive atmospheres that are hazardous to health
may not be introduced.

All information and safety regulations in the operating instructions must be followed.
⇒
All safety information attached to the kiln must be followed.

The kiln may only be operated by briefed or trained specialist personnel.

Children and young people under 18 are not allowed to operate or use the kiln.

Mentally and physically disabled people are not allowed to operate or use the kiln.

Persons who are physically impaired due to limitations (illness, medication or after consumption of alcohol)
may not operate or use the kiln.

The kiln may only be operated within its specific temperature limits.
⇒
The kiln must not be used as a heater or dryer. Heating food, drying clothing or animals, and heating
spaces are not permitted.

The kiln must not be used as a dryer for damp ceramics.
⇒
The kiln may only be used for the intended purpose and as supplied. Subsequent changes or adjustments
by users or operators are not permitted and make use as intended by the manufacturer impossible.
4.6. Reasonably foreseeable misuse
• Use of various glass materials with diverging material properties (e.g. coefficient of thermal expansion [CTE])
• Use for firing ceramics
• Use of insufficiently trained and qualified personnel
• Use of the kiln in potentially explosive environments or spaces with an aggressive atmosphere.
• Use of substances that can create an explosive atmosphere.
• Use of hazardous substances that are released in dangerous concentrations.
• Use of unapproved spare and wear parts.
• Use of unapproved consumables, cleaning and other agents.
• Exceeding the maximum temperatures, weights, quantities and speeds
• The firing of unsuitable items (material, weight and volume)
• Non-compliance with the specifications for the operating location (room ventilation)
• Kiln lid not or only partially closed
• View port not or only incompletely closed
• Closing the lid is hampered by overhanging/protruding ware
• Careless stacking of the ware (damage from falling over)
• Non-compliance with the recommended maintenance intervals or improper maintenance
• Failure to carry out necessary repair, cleaning or maintenance work
• Disregarding the manufacturer's recommendation: replacement of wearing parts
