Kiln
Faults
Kiln not working.
The kiln is not
heating.
The kiln only heats
up very slowly, or
the entered
temperatures are
not achieved.
The kiln switches off
shortly after starting
or before reaching
the end
temperature.
Possible cause
The kiln is not supplied
with electricity.
The electrical wiring is
faulty.
Defective heating element
(breakage or no longer
efficient due to age).
Thermocouple not
working.
The controller cable is not
connected to the kiln, or
the connection is
incomplete.
The kiln was loaded with
too much ware.
Defective heating element
(breakage or no longer
efficient due to age).
Thermocouple not
working.
In the case of a multi-
phase power connection,
one or more phases are
not working.
Power failure
The fuse at the building's
mains connection has
tripped.
Troubleshooting
the operator
1. Plug in the power plug.
2. Switch on the control
unit.
3. Check the main circuit
breaker.
4. Check the connection
of the power cable to the
building's mains
connection.
5. Check the micro-fuse
on the kiln (see Section
14.4).
-
Check heating elements
for wear, breakage or
ageing.
Check the thermocouple
for visible damage.
Check the cable
connection between the
furnace and the control
unit.
Remove the ware.
Check heating elements
for wear, breakage or
ageing.
Check the thermocouple
for visible damage. Also,
check the measuring
circuit cables up to the
controller for breaks.
Check the fuse on the
fuse box at the building's
mains connection.
Switch the kiln on again
and continue operation.
Check the fuse on the
fuse box at the building's
mains connection.

Troubleshooting
electrician/manufacturer
1. Check the micro-fuse on
the kiln (see the following
section).
2. Check the building's
mains connection, fuses and
the current consumption of
the kiln.
Check electrical wiring.
Replace defective heating
elements.
(Recommendation: replace
all heating elements to
achieve an even temperature
distribution in the kiln.)
Check the thermocouple and
replace it if necessary.
Check the cable connection
between the kiln and the
control unit. Replace
defective components.
