12. Remove all the covered haemostats.
13. Fill the device with 20 ml of sterile saline
solution using a non-coring needle 25G x
5/8" attached to the 20 ml Luer-lock syringe.
NOTE: Do not use a different needle.
14. Lift the pump upwards, with the filling
port at the top.
15. While holding the control pump around
the filling port between the thumb and index
finger, take care when inserting the non-
coring needle 25G x 5/8" in-line through the
center of the self-sealing port until the tip is
inside the pump. (Figure 8)
NOTE: Precautions must be taken when
placing the needle, in order to not pierce
the walls of the pump which is different from
the self-sealing port.
16. Slowly inject all 20 ml of sterile saline
solution into the device, pressing the Rapid
Refill valve. The sterile saline solution will
enter each of the component parts of the
device along with some air. Distribute the
sterile saline solution, squeezing the top of
the control pump.
NOTE: If necessary, remove the residual
air contained inside the device.
17. Remove the non-coring needle 25G x
5/8". Test the system by first pressing the
Rapid Refill valve to re-distribute fluid inside
the device, and then squeeze and release
the pump twice to check that the cuff
deflates. Again, rapidly re-inflate to refill the
cuff. A final test is to squeeze and release
the pump twice again to deflate the cuff and
then check for automatic slow re-inflation.

VICTO+ is now ready for implantation.
18. Place the control pump back down into
the sterile tray.
ABDOMINAL INCISION
19. Make a lower abdominal incision where
the SRB and PRB will be placed. Use
a blunt dissection to create a space for
balloons (Figure 9).
NOTE: Before making the abdominal incision,
check the length of the VICTO+ tubes in
order to reduce the kinking effect that would
be produced by making a lower abdominal
incision.
NOTE: Make sure that the abdominal incision
is done on the same side where the pump is
going to be placed.

CUFF PLACEMENT

20. Gently squeeze all the fluid out of the
cuff into the stress relief balloon (SRB) and
clamp off the tube just below the SRB with
a covered haemostat. Pass the deflated
cuff, clamping the strap, using another
haemostat covered with an endoscopic
bag, to the perineal site, leaving the pump
and balloons protruding from the abdominal
incision above (Figure 10).
