COMPLAINED TROUBLE
PROBABLE CAUSE
REMEDY
Start motor
does
not
rotate
and
power is
not absorbed.
Electric sysfern cut-off
between
battery
and
start motor.
Electric sysfem cut-off
between
motar
and start
switch.
Oxidized
battery
loose
clamps.
terminals
Starf motor
electro-magnet
with
oxidized contacty
or
cut-off
or
earthed
winding.
Brushes
tao
much worn,
not
making contact
with the
collec.
tor.
Locate and repair this cut-off.
Check the battery terminals
and
the
starl cable
terminals.
Tighten
the
fixing
nuts.
Locate and repair this cut-off.
Check
the
condition
of
the
switch
Gontacts
and eventually replace.
Clean
the battery
terminals
and
ti-
ghten the
clamps.
Have
them checked.
After
verification
of
the
collector
con-
ditions,
replace
brusies taking
care
to
fit genuine
brushes.
Start motor
rotates
but
does
not
start.
Worn-out
crown teeth: starf
pi-
nion
does
not
engage.
Wrong fitting: pinion
engages
paftially
only.
Foreign rnatlers inside
the
clu-
tch:
it
does
not
slide
on
the
ar-
mature
shaft,
Replace the flywheel crown gear.
Check
the pinion-to-crown
gear
co-
axiality.
Clean
and lubricate.
lf
required, clean the complete clutch.
Start motor
rotates
regularly,
but
there
is
excessive
or
unu-
sual noise.
Defective mechanic
members.
Foreign
matters
inside.
Check
the
suppotts.
Verily
bushes
and
replace
supports,
if
necessary.
Remove them.
Collector
sparking.
Electric
averlaad in general.
Loose bush-holders.
Have
the
start
motar
overhauled.
Tighten
the
fix.
screws
of
brush-
holders
or
replace nails
and
snap-
rivet.
