BRAKE
HYDRAULIC RIM BRAKE
DANGER OF ACCIDENT!
• The brake linings must be free from dirt, grease and oils at all times, since
the brake output may otherwise rapidly reduce or even be lost entirely.
DANGER
• Check the degree of wear of the brake linings before every ride. When ri
ding with strongly contaminated brake linings, the brake force may fail enti
rely!
• Replace the brake pads only with genuine spare parts. Always ensure that
you only use brake pads that are suitable for the rim used (steel or alumini
um). Proper function is otherwise not ensured.
• Replace the brake pads only in pairs, since the brake will otherwise not
work correctly or the brake force will reduce.
MAINTENANCE
The MAGURA brake oil filled in is not subject to aging. The MAGU-
RA rim brake therefore does not need to be vented or refilled
regularly in normal operation. If it is nevertheless necessary, e.g.
due to a defective brake line, have this only done by qualified
specialist using the respective special tools.
SETTING THE PRESSURE POINT/COMPENSATING BRAKE LINING
WEAR
You can adjust the pressure point of the brake at the brake le-
ver. This work must be performed to compensate for brake lin-
ing wear.
1. Turn the screw
56
closer to the rim flank. The pressure point at the brake lever
now starts earlier. You may need a Torx 25 wrench for this
work.
EXCHANGING THE BRAKE PADS
Exchange the MAGURA brake pads at once when the depth of
the groove on the brake lining is less than 1 mm
1. Turn the screw back counter-clockwise
2. Push the lever
of the quick-clamp down to open it
58
(OPEN).
3. Take the brake cylinder
4. (If necessary), remove the wheel.
5. Pull off the worn brake pads.
6. Clean the brake pad holder.
