The main causes of criticality of lithium batteries, besides obsolescence, are related to the following phenomena:
In light of the pros and cons of lithium-ion batteries, it is good to know that batteries have a limited life cycle from
the moment they leave the factory, however, something can be done to keep them efficient for as long as possible.
Specifically, the basic rules for better battery efficiency are as follows:
➢ It is advisable to recharge them completely the first time to obtain maximum capacity
➢ Afterwards, it is best to avoid 'stressing' it with frequent and/or partial recharging
➢ Let it go completely flat, however, every 30 charge/discharge cycles
➢ A lithium-ion battery stays healthy if used often, so it should be kept in 'training'
➢ If you plan not to use it for a while, it is best to disconnect it from the device and store it in a cool place.
Remember that the battery chemistry degrades (oxidises) less when it is about 40% charged; therefore it
should never be left completely discharged
➢ Remember that the main enemy of a lithium-ion battery is heat because it makes it age faster and also risks
creating other problems such as thermal runaway. For these reasons, it is suggested not to leave it with the
device or in direct sunlight or in particularly hot environments, and when the charging cycle is over, it should
be disconnected from the charger
➢ Periodically it is suggested to clean the contacts with a brush with plastic bristles (e.g. polyester or similar)
making sure they are not made of metal material, to maximise the efficiency of the contact over time
➢ Charge in an environment with a temperature between 0°C (32°F) and 45°C (113°F).
NOTE: the estimated battery efficiency after 500 charging cycles is 90%.
It is suggested to replace intensively used batteries after 2-3 years, also in order to optimise the functioning of the
equipment with lithium batteries of newer technology.

DANGEROUS MISUSE
Avoid overcharging. The product and battery system does not allow discharging below 80%, so when an audible
and visual low battery signal is given, recharging is required
Do not connect any chargers not provided by the manufacturer.
Do not force the connection if the connector is defective or damaged.
Do not recharge the battery if there is obvious mechanical or electrical damage, material (mud or other) on the
contacts and/or water ingress.
It is forbidden to use the product if the ambient temperature is outside the permitted range.
It is forbidden to use the battery to power other products.
It is forbidden to disconnect the battery connector with the product switched on and/or in operation or during the
charging phase
It is forbidden to leave the battery exposed to the weather and/or heat sources.
Avoid cleaning it with high-pressure jets or mechanical brushes, which can damage the case or contacts,
Avoid mechanical shocks.
The battery connectors must be kept in perfect condition at all times. In case of breakage, damage, oxidation
phenomena, insulation damage, etc., it is imperative to replace the entire battery.
Do not attempt or perform makeshift repairs that could cause dangerous short circuits or electric shocks.
