E) Attaching the Sensor to the Patient Cable
M-LNCS
1. Refer to Fig. 8a. Orient sensor connector to patient cable connector as shown.
2. Refer to Fig. 8b. Insert sensor connector completely into patient cable connector. Close sensor connector cover over
patient cable connector until it locks in place.
LNCS
1. Refer to Fig. 9a. Insert the sensor connector completely into the patient cable connector.
2. Refer to Fig. 9b. Completely close the protective cover.
LNOP
1. Refer to Fig. 10. Orient the connecting tab so that the "shiny" contacts are facing up and mate the logo to the logo on
the patient cable.
2. Insert the LNOP YI connector into the patient cable connector until there is a tactile or audible click of connection. Gently
tug on the connectors to ensure a positive connection. Tape may be used to secure the cable to the patient for ease of
movement.
F) Disconnecting the sensor from the patient cable
M-LNCS
1. Refer to Fig. 11a. While holding the sides of patient cable connector, lift sensor connector cover from patient cable
connector.
2 Refer to Fig. 11b. Pull firmly on the sensor connector to remove from the patient cable.
LNCS
1. Refer to Fig. 12a. Lift the protective cover to gain access to the sensor connector.
2. Refer to Fig. 12b. Pull firmly on the sensor connector to remove from the patient cable.
LNOP
1. Place thumb and index finger on buttons on either side of the patient cable connector.
2. Refer to Fig. 13. Press firmly on the buttons and pull to remove the sensor.
NOTE: When changing the sensor site disconnect the sensor from the patient cable and reconnect once the sensor is
positioned on the new site.
CLEANING
CAUTION:
• Do not use undiluted bleach (5%-5.25% sodium hypochlorite) or any cleaning solution other than those recommended
here because permanent damage to the sensor could occur.
• Do not immerse the connector of the YI cable in any liquid solution.
• Do not sterilize by irradiation, steam, autoclave, Gluteraldehyde (Cidex) or ethylene oxide.
• Using excessive force when removing the attachment wrap may damage the sensor.
To surface clean the sensor
1. Remove the sensor from the patient and disconnect it from the attachment wrap and patient cable. Remove the
adhesive squares.
2. Clean the YI sensor by wiping it with a 70% isopropyl alcohol pad or mild detergent.
3. Allow the sensor to dry prior to placement on a patient.
or
1. If low-level disinfection is required, wipe all surfaces of the YI sensor and cable with a cloth or gauze pad saturated with
a 1:10 bleach/water solution.
2. Saturate another cloth or gauze pad with sterile or distilled water and wipe all surfaces of the YI sensor and cable.
3. Dry the sensor and cable by wiping all surfaces with a clean cloth or dry gauze pad.
To clean or disinfect the sensor using a soaking method
1. Place the sensor in the cleaning solution (1:10 bleach/water solution), so that the sensor and desired length of cable are
completely immersed.
WARNING: Do not immerse the connector end of the sensor cable as this may damage the sensor.
2. Dislodge air bubbles by gently shaking the sensor and cable.
3. Soak the sensor and the cable for at least 10 minutes and not greater than 24 hours. Do not immerse the connector.
4. Remove from cleaning solution.
5. Place the sensor and the cable in room temperature sterile or distilled water for 10 minutes. Do not immerse the connector.
6. Remove from the water.
7. Dry the sensor and cable with a clean cloth or dry gauze pad.
