Electrical connection
The pumps must be connected to a control unit with motor protection switch. The original
Biral BS 5279/BS 5319 control units are available as accessories. If using other switching de-
vices, note the rated current of the motor for the purpose of configuring the motor protection
switch (see nameplate or "Technical Data").
Incorrect voltage can damage the motor! An expert inspection must be per-
formed before commissioning to ensure that the required electrical protection
measures are in place.
Earthing devices, protective earth, isolating transformers, residual current
circuit protective devices or earth leakage circuit breakers must meet the speci-
fications of the responsible electricity company. The electrical data specified on
the nameplate must correspond to the power supply available.

Specifications
The free ends of the cable must never be submerged in water or made wet in
any other way, otherwise water may penetrate the motor terminal compart-
ment.
Pre-fusing: Fuses with slow triggering behaviour and a rating of 2 to 3 times
the rated current of the motor are recommended.
Ensure that the electrical connections (e.g. junction boxes or similar) are in a
flood-safe area and are protected against moisture.
Mains cables must be checked for damage before use.

Connecting the protective conductor
– The motor must be earthed under all circumstances.
– The protective conductor must be longer than all pole conductors (risk of pulling out).
– Ensure good contact of the protective conductor (no insulation is clamped).
