The standard versions of our pumps are not suitable for pumping liquids
intended for consumption, for pumping flammable or explosive liquids, or for
installation in potentially explosive environments.
For applications in explosive environments, ATEX pumps in a protected
and tested version are available. More detailed information is available from
Biral AG.
Furthermore, the pumps are not suitable for use in tanks (e.g. swimming pools),
or generally in any location in which human bodies may come into contact with
the pump.
If the pumps are used for cleaning or maintenance in swimming pools, it must
be ensured that no persons are present in the pump medium and that the
pumps are equipped with a residual current-operated protective device with a
rated residual current of no more than 30 mA.
If the pump medium contains chemically aggressive components, it is impor-
tant to check the resistance of the pump materials.
4.5 Operating limits
4.5.1 General
The pumps are suitable for transportable and stationary operation. The installation for
submerged operation can be free-standing (type 12), on a solid surface or with an automatic
coupling system for underground operation (type 11).
FEX, FET, FWX and FMX
– Maximum pump medium temperature: 35 °C, up to a maximum of 60 °C for short periods
– pH values of the medium: 6 to 11
– Maximum medium density: 1.1 kg/dm3
– The suspended solids in the pump medium must not be larger than the maximum spherical
passage of the pump (see "Technical Data")
– Maximum immersion depth: See nameplate
FSX:
– See appendix FSX 50
The limit values listed on the nameplate under "Technical Data" must not be
exceeded in any circumstances.
4.5.2 Pump type FMX/FSX
The pumps of type FMX/FSX (pump with upstream grinder) cannot pump any medium con-
taining sand, as this can cause excess wear of the grinding tool.
