Activating functions
Many Märklin locomotives from a previous
or current product range equipped with an
integrated multi-train decoder have one or
more functions that can be activated to
provide a more lively experience. Possible
functions include a front lighting system,
a Telex coupler, a smoke generator and
sound effects that can be switched on
and off by the operator.
The Mobile Station is capable of activa-
ting up to 9 different functions via the
lighting switch button and the 8 function
buttons.
For the majority of Märklin locomotives,
the Mobile Station shows exactly those
functions belonging to the respective
model. The icons themselves indicate
whether a function is activated or deac-
tivated.
The following icons can appear on the
display:
Name

Front lighting

You can switch the relevant function on
and off by pressing the respective function
button next to the icon. In most cases, the
front lighting is switched on and off via the
special lighting switch button. Some func-
tions (e.g. the whistle) are only initiated
while pressing the relevant switch button.
Which functions a locomotive has also
can be discovered by referring to the
instructions that came with the respective
locomotive.
Note: Before the Control Unit 6021 was
introduced the Märklin range included
some products which had several addi-
tional functions built in, but which were
realised on a different technical basis.
Unfortunately, these products cannot
be activated with the Mobile Station.
These include the disco coach 4998,
waiter-service coach 4999 and revol-
ving crane 7651.
