12.1.2 Configuring the maintenance signal
The maintenance signal is always transmitted to the analog
output when the menu is accessed.
Static (Stdy)
Static 3.4 mA output signal
Dynamic (3-5)
Oscillating 3 to 5 mA signal with a fre-
quency of 1 Hz
1. Select CAL - set.
The display alternates between the current value and
the menu item.
2. Tap [OK].
The value flashes (data entry mode).
3. Set the acknowledgement mode.
● Tap [UP] for dynamic (3-5).
● Tap [DOWN] for static (Stdy).
4. Confirm with [OK].
The value is set and the menu is displayed again.
12.1.3 Configuring the 4 to 20 mA offset
This function is used to synchronize the displays at the
transmitter and the controller.
First, the offset is set for the 4 mA output (Adj - 4). Then the
offset is set for the 20 mA output (Adj - 20).
This function adds an offset to the analog
Adj - 4
output at 4 mA.
The limits can be set to values between
3.8 mA and 4.2 mA.
Adj - 20
This function adds an offset to the analog
output at 20 mA.
The limits can be set to values between
19.5 mA and 20.5 mA.
1. Select Adj - 4 .
2. Tap [OK].
The value flashes (data entry mode).
3. Use [UP] and [DOWN] to modify the value.
4. Confirm with [OK].
Adj - 20 is displayed.
5. Tap [OK].
The value flashes (data entry mode).
6. Use [UP] and [DOWN] to modify the value.
7. Confirm with [OK].
The value is set and the menu is displayed again.
Polytron 57x0 (IR)
If the value for Adj - 4 has been changed, the transmitter
displays 4 - Adj - OK or 4 - Adj - FAIL. Confirm with [OK]. If 4
- Adj - FAIL is displayed, the PIR 7x00 sensor could not
reduce its output to match the entered value. Repeat the
procedure to reduce the offset.
The same applies to the 20 mA output.

12.1.4 Testing the analog interface
These functions change the current of the analog interface for
test purposes (e.g., to check the programming of the
controller). It may be necessary to temporarily inhibit the
alarms at the controller to avoid false alarms.
1. 4-20 - test Select.
2. Tap [OK].
The value flashes (data entry mode).
3. Use [UP] and [DOWN] to modify the value.
The current output is adjusted accordingly.
4. Tap [OK] to end the test.
The current value automatically returns to the
maintenance signal and the menu is displayed again.

3. Tap [UP] / [DOWN] to set the desired value.
● For some gas unit configurations, only one value can
be selected. In this case, neither [UP] nor [DOWN] will
change the value.
● If the symbols for over range or under range are
displayed, the entered value is invalid. Use [UP] and
[DOWN] to set the correct value.
4. Confirm with [OK].
The value is set and the menu is displayed again.

13.2.1 Changing the gas category
The DrägerSensor IR can measure gases and vapors that
belong to the methane, propane, or ethene (ethylene) gas
categories. A gas category must be set for the
DrägerSensor IR depending on which target gas is to be
measured. For the assignment of gases and vapors to the gas
categories, see the DrägerSensor IR documentation.
13.2.2 Changing the gas category
Prerequisites
– The gas detector was switched on for less than one hour.
– Automatic zero calibration on the sensor was carried out
less than one hour ago (see "Special feature of the
Polytron 5310", page 16).
– The gas concentration measured by the gas detector is
below 10 %LEL (apply zero gas to sensor if necessary).
