TRANSFERRING AND TRANSPORTING A PATIENT

These instructions outline the proper techniques for safely securing and
transporting a patient using the Transfer Flat.
WARNING
• Do not operate the Transfer Flat without proper training.
• Do not exceed the 1600 pound weight capacity for the Transfer Flat.
• Do not use the Transfer Flat if any bodily fluids are present. Inspect the
Transfer Flat for fluids and clean prior to use.
• Inspect the Transfer Flat before and after each use for wear, fraying, or other
damage. If device is damaged, discontinue use.
• The Transfer Flat is not designed or recommended for use with patients with
suspected cervical, spinal, or fracture injuries
• To assist with proper operation and to avoid injury, use industry approved
techniques and guidelines for lifting when using the Transfer Flat to transfer
a patient.
• To avoid injury to the patient and/or operator, operators should never attempt
to transfer or transport patient loads greater than what they can safely
lift. Evaluate the load prior to attempting the transfer or transport and use
additional assistance, if necessary.
When the patient is lying down on the floor or on a bed:
1.
Unfold the Transfer Flat.
2.
Use appropriate industry techniques to center the patient on the Transfer
Flat as shown in Figure 2.
