TRANSFERRING A PATIENT FROM A COT TO A PATIENT SUPPORT
PLATFORM
To transfer the patient from one patient support platform (for example, bed,
stretcher, gurney, operating table) to another:
1.
Position one patient support platform alongside the other patient support
platform as closely as possible.
2.
Secure both patient support platforms. When transferring to another platform,
refer to the transfer and safety requirements of the specified platform.
3.
Raise the receiving patient support platform outer siderails, if applicable to
prevent overtravel (not shown in Figure).
WARNING
Only use the Transfer Flat for patient transfers between fixed patient support
surfaces that are level with one another.
4.
Adjust the patient support platform heights, so that they are level with one
another.
5.
Use the Transfer Flat to move the patient across from one surface to the
other as shown in Figure 4.
CAUTION
The Transfer Flat should not be used as a permanent surface on any patient
support platform.
