7 Complete the instrument firing cycle
(Illustration 5).
7a. Fully press the energy activation button to
unlock the I-BLADE .
®
7b. While pressing the energy activation
button, continue squeezing the closing handle
to advance the I-BLADE and increase tissue
®
compression.
NOTE: For larger vascular bundles, it is
recommended to advance the I-BLADE ®
slowly (gradually).
7c. The generator tone changes pitch (Tone
2) when the tissue impedance threshold
is reached, and the I-BLADE is ready to
®
be fully advanced. It is recommended to
maintain a consistent speed throughout
I-BLADE ® advancement.
7d. Squeeze the closing handle until it stops
against the grip housing. This fully advances
the I-BLADE (Illustration 5)
®
The generator provides one short beep
(Tone 3) to indicate the cycle is complete
after the I-BLADE is fully advanced and the
®
tissue impedance threshold has been reached.
Energy delivery automatically stops after
Tone 3.

• NOTE: The instrument may be operated with
either footswitch or handswitch control.
• NOTE: The I-BLADE cannot be advanced
®
to transect tissue without first fully pressing
the energy activation button and then
releasing the I-BLADE .

• NOTE: The instrument can be wiped with
a sterile moist gauze sponge to remove
tissue, if necessary. If tissue is still visible
in the jaws, use forceps to remove residue.

NOTE: The ENSEAL G2 Articulating
®
Tissue Sealer can be used in Extended
Activation Mode (Generator G11 software
version 2014-1 or later). When Extended
Activation Mode is enabled on the Generator
G11 (GEN11) and the device is activated, the
generator will deliver energy for as long as 2
minutes. During Extended Activation Mode,
an indicator is displayed on the generator.
Tone 3 (Cycle Complete) will not be received
during an activation cycle while this mode
is enabled; therefore, the user should apply
energy until the desired tissue effects are
deemed to have been achieved. Energy
delivery can be terminated at any moment by
releasing the footswitch or hand activation
button. If the device is unplugged or the
generator is powered down while 'Extended
Activation ON' is selected, the generator
will revert to the system default setting of
'Extended Activation OFF'.

8 After the cycle is complete, release the
closing handle and the energy activation
button. (Illustration 7)
If the desired cut is longer than the stroke of
the blade, transection can be accomplished
by repeating Steps 4 - 7.
9 Straighten the shaft and close the jaws before
removing the device from the trocar. The
instrument is straight when the indicator
arrow on the articulation wheel is aligned
with the top of the instrument.

Disconnect the instrument from the
generator.

Dispose of the instrument in an appropriate
Sharps container. Do not reuse instrument.
