1) Check to make sure there are no weights on the rim.
2) Coat the bead and the edges of the rim thoroughly with the special grease.
3) The rim can be clamped on the table top from the inside or the outside.
WARNING!
When clamping a tyre, NEVER have your hands under the tyre.
To clamp the tyre correctly, position the wheel exactly at the centre of the table top (2, Fig. P).
Check to be certain that the wheel is correctly clamped by all four grippers.
RIM CLAMPED FROM THE OUTSIDE (wheels from 12-24")
Press the pedal (5, Fig. P) to the middle position to position the 4 sliding clamps (6, Fig. P) so that the reference on the table top is more
or less in line with the tyre diameter stamped on the sliding clamp.
Place the wheel on the table top and push down on the wheel while depressing the pedal (5, Fig. P) all the way to clamp the wheel.
RIM CLAMPED FROM THE INSIDE (wheels from 14-27")
Press the pedal (5, Fig. P) all the way down to close the 4 sliding clamps (6, Fig. P) completely.
Put the wheel on the table top and depress pedal (5, Fig. P) all the way down. The 4 sliding clamps will open and clamp the wheel.
ATTENTION: In order to avoid marking the rim, alloy rims should be locked exclusively from the outside after having
mounted the specially-provided protection on the clamps.
EXTERNAL LOCKING USING THE RIM PRESSING CONE (ONLY WITH PT DEVICE INSTALLED)
When working on self-supporting UHP or Run Flat tyres, using locking from outside the rim is always recommended but, because of
the increased hardness of the side, the locking operations previously described may be difficult to perform.
To make them easier, the PT device can be used as follows:
1- free the chuck by moving both the tyre changer tool arm and the PT device to the re-
tracted position.
N.B.: Before starting, adjust the height of the PT arm to suit the width of the rim.
2- preset the chuck aperture so that when the tyre is placed on it, the clamps are touching
the tyre as close as possible to the edge of the rim (see Fig. J/1).
3- bring the PT arm (19, Fig. E) into the working position; it will lock in place automati-
cally at the centre of the chuck.
WARNING!
To prevent the risks arising from accidental movement, the
mobile arm (29, Fig. E) MUST be turned clockwise to the limit
stop position.
4- fit the rim pressing cone (2, Fig. JJ/2) onto the arm (1, Fig. J/2), pushing up to
snap it into place.
