den, as is mounting tyres with dimensions different from those stated by the vehicle's manufacturer in the registration papers.
Mounting tyres the TWI (Tread Wear Indicator) of which indicates that the tread is excessively worn is forbidden.
With regard to the width, refer to the specific tables.
Check that:
- there are no signs of damage on the tyre or rim (cuts, dents, tears, etc.). In the event of damage, replace the part.
- The tyre temperature must never be less than 15°C: a lower temperature might lead to damage during mounting or demounting operations.
This manual comes complete with a leaflet describing the procedures for heating tyres, and the times required.
- The chuck must be clean and undamaged.
- The chuck clamps must be fitted with plastic guards when clamping alloy rims.
DEMOUNTING PROCEDURE
WARNING: Before proceeding with any operation on the wheel, make sure that all contact points between
the tyre changer and the rim, namely the head, bead breaking shoe and locking clamps are equipped with suitable
plastic protectors.
After breaking and locking the wheel on the turntable as described in sections 10.1 and 10.2 of this manual, proceed to the demounting of
the tyre, acting as follows:
UPPER BEAD DEMOUNTING
1- Bring the PT arm to a working position.
2- With the handle (1, Fig. W/1) in a vertical position, adjust the position of the bead
pressing disc according to the wheel diameter, lock it at approximately 10 mm from the
outer edge of the rim and bring it to its end stroke again (see Fig. W/1).
3- Place the valve at 11 o'clock (see Fig. W/1).
4- Gradually lower the PT arm until the disc comes into contact with the tyre bead.
Place the handle (1, Fig. W/2) in a horizontal position so that the disc penetrates the
inside of the well (see Fig. W/2).
5- Begin to rotate the turntable and lower the disc further. Begin lubrication when there
is sufficient space (see Fig. W/3).
N.B.:Lubrication must be accurate and performed to a depth both on the bead and on the
shoulder of the tyre as well as in the inner part of the rim. Use lubricant that is specific
for tyres. Do not apply lubricant on the sensor (if present).
IMPORTANT.
When using the bead pressing disc, never apply excessive pressure
or in any case pressure which could cause deformation of the
surface of the tread.
6- When lubrication has been completed, lift the bead pressing disc, release the PT arm
and bring it to the non-working position.
7- Move the tyre changer column to the working position. Move valve to 12 o'clock.
8- Block the mounting head on the rim edge.
