4 Commissioning
Danger
Risk of loss of life from electric shock!
There is a risk of injury for persons performing tasks for
which they are neither qualified nor have received
appropriate training.
Work on the electrical system may only be performed
by persons who have had recognized training as a
professional electrician and who have the required
skills and knowledge.
4.1 Preparing the charging infrastructure
The devices of the charging infrastructure must be prepared
accordingly for the setting-up process:
1. Install all devices of the charging infrastructure in
accordance with the installation and operation manuals
of MENNEKES charging systems.
2. Connect the SCUs of charging points to the ACU using
PROFIBUS cables. The connection is carried out in line
bus topology.
3. Insert a SIM card in the ACU if required.
4. Connect all devices to the power supply and turn on the
devices.
MENNEKES recommends using the following lines for the
RS-485 bus:
Underground installation:
Siemens PROFIBUS underground cable, 6XV1830-3FH10
(EAN of manufacturer: 4019169400428).
Underground installation without mechanical load:
Siemens PROFIBUS underground cable, 6XV1830-0EH10
(EAN of manufacturer: 4019169400312).
When using the recommended cables, trouble free
operation at bus lengths up to 300 metres can be expected.
4.2 Planning the layout of the charging
infrastructure
When working with many charging stations and charging
points, a layout plan simplifies the allocation of data and the
communication with MENNEKES customer service in case of
support requests.
The names of the ACU and SCUs can be chosen arbitrarily.
However, the following naming conventions must be
followed:
Up to 32 characters in length.
No vowel mutation or special characters.
If possible, no spaces (difficult to detect in case of
multiple entries).
Observe uppercase and lowercase letters.
The name of the ACU must be unique in the charging
structure.
Use the following procedure to plan the layout of the
charging infrastructure:
1. Assign meaningful and unique names to ACU and SCUs
in your charging infrastructure.
If an ACU is replaced, we recommend giving it a
changed name.
2. Write down the names of ACU and its associated SCUs
of charging points.
3. Write down the available connected load of charging
points or the grouping of individual charging points on
a supply line.
