Instructions for Use
IPS® Implants Forearm Reconstruction
Phase 1, cleaning
• To ensure wetting of all surfaces, flush the instrument for at least 1 min. under running water at the
beginning of the cleaning process. Move movable parts back and forth at least 3 times.
• Immerse the products into a cleaning solution consisting of fully demineralized water and enzymatic or
mildly alkaline cleaning agent for 10 min at room temperature. Use ultrasound to support the cleaning
process if required.
Phase 2, brushing
• Brush the outer surfaces under running drinking water using a nylon brush until all visible dirt is removed
(do not use a metal brush).
Phase 3, final rinse
• Flush the outer surfaces and connection parts of the products with fully demineralized water for 1 min.
Phase 4, drying
• Use suitable means for drying, e.g. lint-free cloths and/or medical compressed air.
Phase 5, chemical disinfection
• Insert the disassembled and cleaned products into a disinfection bath for the specified time so that they
are fully covered. Move movable parts back and forth multiple times during disinfection.
• Then remove the products from the disinfection bath and rinse them at least 5 times (for at least 1 min)
with demineralized water. Move movable parts back and forth several times during rinsing.
• Dry the products by blowing them off/out using filtered compressed air.
Damage from unsuitable chemicals!
Use of process chemicals that are not suitable for the product materials can lead to damage.
• Check process chemicals for suitability.
Gebrüder Martin advises against the use of quick-drying chemicals (rinsing agents, rinsing aids), as these
chemicals can impair the function and lead to permanent damage, such as brittleness, to products with
plastic components (e.g. storage devices).
