program
• Remove the products from the washer-disinfector at the end of the program and check them for residual
contamination. In case of doubt, repeat the process.
• Empty the chamber of the washer-disinfector between the process steps.
Damage from unsuitable chemicals!
Use of process chemicals that are not suitable for the product materials can lead to damage.
• Check process chemicals for suitability.
Gebrüder Martin advises against the use of quick-drying chemicals (rinsing agents, rinsing aids), as these
chemicals can impair the function and lead to permanent damage, such as brittleness, to products with
plastic components (e.g. storage devices).
5.5
Check
The products must be macroscopically clean, i.e. free from visible contamination, after each cleaning
process.
Functional check
• Check the products for damage such as fractures, cracks, chipping, deformation and unrecognizable color
coding, and additionally check instruments for proper function.
• Improperly functioning, worn, corroded, deformed, porous or otherwise damaged products must be
disposed of. Alternatively, appropriate measures can be initiated for the instruments (e.g. surface
treatment), see also the recommendations by the Arbeitskreis Instrumenten-Aufbereitung (AKI,
Instrument Processing Working Group):

• For storage devices, ensure in particular that the covers are correctly and securely seated on the storage
baskets and modules to prevent individual instruments or implants from falling out.
