Preparation before Cleaning and Disinfection

Cleaning and disinfection in cleaning machines is always to be preferred to manual cleaning, as mechanical
cleaning processes can be validated and standardized.
• Observe the manufacturers' operating and loading instructions.
5.3.1

Preparation

Store the products on carriers suitable for cleaning, e.g. sterilizing sieve trays or tray baskets.
Do not clean and disinfect implants together with contaminated instruments.
• Disassemble multi-piece products as far as possible prior to clinical reprocessing
• Open products with joints, pivots or ratchets, such as scissors, clamps or pliers, as far as possible.
• Ensure access to cannulations, cavities and lumina.

5.4.1

Manual Cleaning and Disinfection

Generally, only neutral or mildly alkaline cleaning and disinfection are permitted (pH < 11).
