Processing
5.1
General Processing Instructions
The operator/user is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing the products used. It is essential
that national regulations, including restrictions, be observed.
• In case of patients with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJK), suspected CJK or possible variants, observe the
applicable national regulations regarding processing of the products.
• Note that successful processing of these products can be ensured only after prior validation of the
preparation process. The operator/processor is responsible for this.
Products supplied in non-sterile condition must be cleaned, disinfected and sterilized before the first and
before any further use.
5.2
Reprocessing Limitations and Restrictions
Danger of injury and risk of system failure from reprocessing and reuse of products for single use!
Products intended for single use on a patient are marked with the corresponding symbol on the label and
must not be reprocessed or reused.
Even if the single-use product seems intact after use, its integrity may be compromised, and minor defects
and/or internal weak points may be present, possibly causing the product to fail.
Reprocessing and reuse can increase the risk of contamination, e. g. by carryover of germs.
Danger of injury from reprocessing of contaminated single-use products!
Single-use products that have not been used but have come into contact with bodily fluids, blood,
tissue and/or similar are to be considered used and must not be reprocessed or reused.
Reprocessing and reuse can increase the risk of contamination, e. g. by carryover of germs.
