Instructions for Use
Aortic punch
5.1
Pre-Treatment before Reprocessing at the Place of Use
We recommend performing the reprocessing of the contaminated instruments as soon as possible after
their use. We generally recommend dry return transport within 6 h of use in a closed transport container.
•
Remove any visible surgical residues using a damp, lint-free cloth.
•
Surfaces that are not visible should be rinsed with demineralized water, for example using a disposable
syringe.
This way, fixation of dirt (in the lumen) can be avoided.
5.2
Reprocessing Limitations and Restrictions
Frequent reprocessing has only a minor influence on the service life of surgical instruments, which is mainly
a function of use-related wear and tear or damage.
5.3
Preparation of Cleaning and Disinfection
Cleaning and disinfection of the instrument in cleaning machines should always be preferred to manual
cleaning, as mechanical cleaning processes can be validated and standardized.
•
Observe the manufacturers' operating and loading instructions.
5.3.1
Preparation
•
For the cleaning process, open the instruments as far as possible.
•
Rotate the handle (2) in the direction of the arrow (3) and slide the punching head (1) in the direction
of the arrow (4).
•
If required, connect to the corresponding connectors. Machines and loading racks must allow sufficient
flushing of the inside of the lumina via suitable connections as well.
•
Standard procedures are suitable only if the hot disinfection medium can flow through the cavities, and
reliable flushing is possible. See also the validated reprocessing procedure in the following sections.
•
Store the instruments on instrument carriers suitable for cleaning, e.g. sterilizing sieve trays or sieve
baskets.
