When the screw blocks are securely glued in place, continue the holes through the blocks so
that the fairing can be attached using eight 2.2 x 6.5 mm self-tapping screws.
The opening for the cooling air inlet can now be opened up to final size; it should be at least the
same cross-sectional area as the inlet opening of the fan duct. Check that the opening is central
relative to the duct inlet; if not, trim it to suit.
The front face of the engine fairing is left open on the full-size Bo 105; on the model the easiest
method of simulating this is to paint the opening black.
However, it is also possible to cut away the opening for a better scale effect; the choice is left up
to the builder. If you do this, the opening weakens the fairing around the cooling air inlet, and
structural strength has to be restored as follows: the cabin roof should be extended into the new
opening with a piece of ABS or GRP (e.g. the fuselage cross-strut which you removed earlier);
glue the new piece in place and fill the joints. The seam area should be reinforced from the rear
with a strip of glass cloth.
