d) Dual Rate/Exponential Setting „D/R"
The Dualrate Function:
With the help of the dual rate function, the servo deflections for the roll, nod and tail functions can be reduced by
pushing the toggle switch „Dual Rate" (see figure 1, item 20). You can do this to simply and easily reduce the reaction
sensitivity of a model which reacts too aggressively at full extension. Especially for beginners, models with reduced
servo deflections are a lot easier to control.
When a model is used for the first time, it might not yet be clear
how sensitively it responds to the control commands. Therefore
it is a proven method to reduce the deflections during flight.
Exponential Function:
In contrast to the dual rate function, the end deflections of the
servos are not reduced in the exponential function. The expo-
nential function merely reacts to the middle range of the control
curve. In practice, this means that the reaction to the control
stick is no longer linear,. but forms a curve.
To set the dual rate/exponential function, proceed as fol-
lows:
• Call the function settings menu.
• Select the menu item „D/R ADJ" with the buttons „UP" or
„DOWN".
• Activate the menu item with the button „SELECT".
The display shows the display for the roll function „AILE0"
or „AILE1" with the currently set exponential and dual rate
values, depending on the position of the toggle switch „Dual
Rate". Additionally, the adjacent figure shows the control
characteristic curve.
• Put the toggle switch „Dual Rate" forward, so that the display
„AILE0" appears for full deflection values.
• Push the button „SELECT" so that the input function jumps
down to the exponential value „E".
• Pushing the buttons „INC (+)" or „DEC (-)" sets the described
exponential value for the roll servo. At a positive value, the
servo reacts more strongly in the area of the middle position
of the servo stick; at a negative value, it reacts more weakly.
• The setting is saved automatically.
