10.0 USE OF OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES
A variety of optional accessories are available for use on the Jackson Spinal Surgery or
Radiolucent Imaging Tops. See section 11.0 for part numbers when ordering these
devices.
10.1 Dual Chest Pads
The Mizuho OSI 5840-820 dual chest pads may be used in place of the standard single
piece chest pad on the Jackson Spinal Surgery Top. This pad set provides increased
lateral support and a larger surface area to contact the patient.
beneficial if it is anticipated that the spinal surgery top will laterally rotated frequently
during the surgical procedure.
NOTE: The dual chest pads are right- and left-sided pads that are labeled accordingly.
The pads must be oriented toward the patient when the patient is positioned prone on
them. Confirm the pads are applied to the appropriate side of the spinal surgery top.
The chest pads should contact the patient so the top edges of the chest pads are
parallel to the patient's supra-sternal notch. The lateral support section on the dual
chest pads should encompass the chest wall and should be inferior to the brachial
plexus. Assess to confirm that the patient's arms are cephalad of the pads and that the
brachial plexus is not impeded by the chest pads.
