3.3. Stopping the generating set

Manual shutdown
1. Allow the generating set to run under no load for at least 2 minutes to let the engine cool sufficiently.
2. Move the main switch on the generating set to "OFF/RESET". The generating set is switched off.
Automatic shutdown
With the main switch on the generating set positioned to "AUTO", open the contact across egine start wires 3 and 4 to signal the
generating set to stop.
An automatic changeover switch or any other automated device connected to wires 3 and 4 on the controller operates as follows:
1. The automatic changeover switch or other device disconnects the generating set from the power supply.
2. If the automatic changeover switch is equipped with an engine cooling delay timer, the generating set continues to operate for
the time period defined to allow the engine to cool.
Note: The ADC controller is not equipped with an engine cooling delay timer.
3. The automatic changeover switch or other automated device opens the circuit between wires 3 and 4. The generating set is
switched off. The controller enters standby mode and displays engine hours of operation.
Emergency shutdown (Three-phase models only)
Push the red emergency stop button for immediate generating set shutdown in the case of an emergency. See Figure 2.3 for the
emergency stop button location.
The emergency stop button shuts down the generating set immediately. The controller display shows AF (auxiliary fault) when the
emergency stop button is activated.
Use the generating set main switch for normal shutdowns.

3.4. Resetting emergency stop button

Use the following procedure to reset the generating set after shutdown by the emergency stop button.
See Section 3.5.1 to reset the generating set after a fault shutdown.
1. Move the generating set main switch to "OFF/RESET".
2. Investigate and correct the cause of the emergency stop.
3. Rotate the emergency stop button knurled button clockwise and release it. Check that the knurled button returns to the
deactivated (out) position.
4. Move the generating set main switch to the RUN or AUTO position to restart the generating set.
Verify that the controller display no longer shows a fault code. The generating set engine will not start until the reset procedure
is complete.

3.5. Generating set fault-related shutdown

The generating set switches off automatically when the fault conditions listed in the table in figure 3.5 appear. The controller then
displays the corresponding fault code. The generating set cannot be restarted until the fault has been corrected and the controller
reset.
See section 3.4.1 on resetting the controller after a fault-related shutdown.
Following an emergency shutdown of the generating set (except manual emergency shutdown) the generating set is automatically
reset once the issue has been resolved. The engine temperature switch (high engine temperature) is automatically reset when the
generating set has cooled down sufficiently. However, the fault is not cleared until the controller is reset.
Under the conditions indicated in the table in figure 3.6, the controller displays a fault code, but the generating set is not shut down.
