4.1.12.3. Cylinder lubrication

1. Remove the spark plugs.
2. Add a teaspoon of engine oil to each cylinder via the spark plug hole. Refit the spark plugs and earth the cables. Do not
reconnect the cables to the spark plugs.
3. Use the generating set's main switch to activate the starter for 2 or 3 engine rotations in order to lubricate the cylinders.

4.1.12.4. Generating set protection

1. Clean the outer casing of the generating set.
2. Protect all the engine apertures from the outside using nonporous tape.
3. Protect all areas to be used for electric contacts.
4. Apply a rustproofing product to the bare metal surfaces to protect them from corrosion.

4.1.12.5. Battery

Finish by packing the battery for storage.
1. Move the main switch on the generating set to "OFF/RESET".
2. Disconnect the battery leads, the negative (-) lead first
3. Clean the battery. Refer to section 4.1.9 for the cleaning procedure.
4. Store the battery away from cold and humidity.
5. Maintain the battery charge on a monthly basis using a trickle charger.

5. Faults and repairs

5.1. Introduction

Use the following tables to perform fault finding and resolve the most common faults. Start by investigating the most simple causes,
such as complete discharge of the engine starter battery, loose electrical connections or an open circuit breaker. The various tables
provide a list of common faults, indicate the possible causes and detail the recommended corrective measures.
If this manual does not include a procedure explaining how to correct a fault, contact an approved agent. Ensure the log of repairs
and adjustments made to the equipment is kept up to date. This log should be used to describe the fault and to record repair and
adjustment operations carried out on the equipment.
