7.6. Checking the spark plug

Diag. H
Remove the spark plug cap and remove the spark plug using a spark plug spanner.
Visually inspect the spark plug:
If the electrodes are worn or if the insulation is split or flaking:
Replace the spark plug.
Fit the new spark plug by hand to avoid cross-threading.
Tighten the spark plug by 1/2 a turn using a spark plug
spanner to compress the washer.
7.7. Cleaning the generating set
Cleaning with a water jet is not recommended.
Cleaning with high pressure cleaning equipment is forbidden.
Important
To clean the generating set:
Remove all dust and debris from around the exhaust
Clean the generating set, particularly the alternator and engine air inlets and outlets, using a cloth and brush.
Check the general condition of the generating set and replace any faulty parts

8. Storing the generating set

In the event that the generating set is not to be used for a long period, it must be stored in accordance with the guidelines below.
While the engine is still warm, renew the engine oil (see section 7.2 Renewing the engine oil).
Close the fuel tap (fig. A – no. 3).
Clean the sediment bowl (see section 7.3, Cleaning the sediment bowl), remove the drain screw and open the fuel tap to drain the
fuel tank.
Remove the spark plug and pour up to 15 ml of clean engine oil into the cylinder via the spark plug opening.
Refit the spark plug.
Without starting the engine, slowly pull the starter-recoil reel (fig A - no. 7) several times until some resistance is felt.
Clean the outside of the generating set and apply an anti-rust product to the damaged sections (see section 7.7, Cleaning the
generating set).
Cover the generating set to protect it from dust and store it in a clean and dry place.
