Ultrasound bath
2. Cleaning / Disinfection
A machine process (disinfection unit) should be used for the cleaning and
disinfection of the instruments. Manual procedures are not recommen-
ded due to their signifi cantly lower effectiveness (use of ultrasound is not
permitted!).
When selecting the disinfection unit, you must ensure,
- that the disinfection unit has tested effectiveness (e.g. with German
Society for Hygiene and Microbiology (DGHM) or FDA approval and
the CE mark in accordance with DIN EN ISO 15883),
- so that if possible a tested program is used for thermal disinfec-
tion (at least 5 minutes at 90 °C or A
chemical disinfection, there is a risk of disinfectant residues on the
instruments).
- that the program used is suitable for the instruments and includes

suffi cient rinsing cycles,
- that only sterile or low-bacterial-count (max. 10 bacteria/ml) and
lowendotoxin (max. 0.25 endotoxin units/ml) water is used,

- that the air used for drying is fi ltered and
- that the disinfection unit is regularly serviced and inspected.

After pre-cleaning, rinse the instruments thoroughly with
fully desalinated or distilled water and fl ush the inner ad-
