the connection cable. Ensure that the plug is pushed into the coupling
unti it hits the stop; a small gap (approximately 1 mm) will remain bet-
ween the coupling and the plug.
5. Establish the argon gas connection to the argon control unit. To do this,
connect the male Luer lock connector of the connection line to the fe-
male Luer lock gas discharge of the argon gas control unit. The use
of a sterile fi lter (article no. 830-050) between the argon unit and the
connection plug of the argon handle is recommended.
6. Activate the purge function of the argon gas control unit to fl ood the gas
feed line of the connection cable with argon gas.
7. Activate the blue pedal of the foot switch and check to ensure that the
system (activation of the argon gas control unit, generator and instru-
ments) is working properly. Keep the tip of the probe at a distance
of approximately 5 mm from any exposed, uninsulated metal part. It
must not have any electrically conductive contact to the patient or
other persons. Upon activation an argon plasma stream jet must form
between the metal part and the tip.
The device is ready for operation.
Instrument preparation
The devices are not sterile! Clean and sterilize them before using them

Non-sterile instruments must not be used without prior cleaning / disinfec-
tion and sterilization. Effective cleaning / disinfection is the crucial prere-

quisite for effective sterilization of the instruments.
As part of your responsibility for instrument sterility during use, you must
ensure that only suffi ciently validated processes for the specifi c devices

and products are used in the cleaning/ disinfection and sterilization and
that compliance with the validated parameters is ensured for each cycle.
You must comply with the statutory regulations applicable in your country
