4.4.1.
General Safety Notes
DANGER
Risk of severe personal injury, property damage and even death by:
• removing, changing, or bypassing the protective equipment or
• operating the kiln without functional protective equipment.

NOTE
You must disconnect the kiln from all energy sources (pull out the power plug/disconnect it)
before you start working on the kiln, especially when cleaning, servicing, maintaining or
troubleshooting.
4.4.2.
Types of protective devices installed
Protective equipment that is attached to potential danger spots consists of:
Protective equipment
Fixed guards
Movable guard
Kiln door
Power cable/Main switch
Control engineering

Note that the kiln may only be operated with functional protective equipment!
Make sure that the protective equipment is permanently installed, locked, functional and
switched on!
Comply with the relevant safety regulations for all work on the kiln especially when it is
necessary to open, remove or switch off the respective protective equipment!
Only make changes to protective equipment with the written approval of the kiln
manufacturer.
After working on the kiln, check that the protective equipment is functioning, even if it is
outside the prescribed inspection cycles.
It is not permitted to dismantle or remove protective equipment, covers or warning
signs during operation.
Regularly check protective equipment, covers and warning signs to ensure that they are
in perfect condition.
Renew missing or illegible warning signs.
Function
Cover for electrical/switch box and cover for the connections of the heating
elements, to protect against:
• Touching and electric shock
• Burns (heating elements)
Kiln door safety switch to protect against:
• Touching and electric shock
• Burns (heating elements)
Protection against access to the firing chamber during firing
Shut down the kiln in the event of an incident/emergency.
Control system for controlling and regulating firing, to protect against:
• Overtemperature
• Ramp rates and programming (firing mode) outside the physical limits of the kiln
