How to Record in the Wide-screen
Format
In addition to recording in the conventional 4:3 format,
this Movie Camera lets you record in the 16:9 format
used by the new wide-screen TVs.
Playing back recordings made in the wide-screen format
is also possible on a normal-format TV in a cinema-like
format (Letter Box Mode).
À Set the [WIDE/NORMAL] Selector to
"WIDE".
eThe image in the Viewfinder appears vertically
lengthened.
E To Cancel the Wide Mode
Reset the [WIDE/NORMAL] Selector to "NORMAL".
When playing back the picture on a wide-screen TV,
keep the [WIDE/NORMAL] Selector set to "WIDE".
When you use the S-Video Cable to connect the Movie
Camera to a TV, or when the TV's automatic aspect
conversion function is activated, the picture is played
back in the wide-screen format as shown in the
illustration @ above.
When playing back the picture on a normal-screen
TV, set the [WIDE/NORMAL] Selector to "NORMAL".
When you connect the Movie Camera to a normal-
screen TV and play back scenes recorded in the Wide
Mode, a black band appears at the top and bottom of the
TV screen as shown in the illustration @ above.
@The "LETTER BOX" Indication appears in the
Viewfinder.
ein the Camera Search Mode, the picture cannot be
played back in the Letter Box Format.

Enregistrement en format grand
ecran
En plus de permettre l'enregistrement en mode écran de
télévision 4:3, ce caméscope permet de faire des
enregistrement en format grand écran 16:9 utilisé par les
nouveaux téléviseurs.
ll est également possible de lire des enregistrements
effectuées en format grand écran sur un écran de
téléviseur de format ordinaire (mode boîte aux lettres).

Mettre le sélecteur [WIDE/NORMAL] à la
position "WIDE".
eL'image dans le viseur apparaît étirée
verticalement.
M Désactivation du mode grand écran
Remettre le sélecteur [WIDE/NORMAL] à la position
"NORMAL".
Pour la lecture sur un téléviseur à grand écran,
laisser te sélecteur [WIDE/NORMAL] à la position
"WIDE".
Lorsqu'un câble S-VIDEO est utilisé pour relier le
caméscope à un téléviseur ou lorsque la fonction de
conversion automatique du rapport de cadre du
téléviseur est activée, la lecture se fait dans le format
d'image illustré plus haut @.
Pour la lecture sur un écran de télévision ordinaire,
mettre le sélecteur [WIDE/NORMAL] à la position
"NORMAL".
Lorsque le caméscope est raccordé à un téléviseur à
écran ordinaire et que les images ont été enregistrées en
format grand écran, des marges noires apparaissent
dans le haut et le bas de l'image (voir l'illustration @
plus haut).
eL'indication "LETTER BOX" apparaît à l'écran du viseur.
eEn mode recherche, l'image ne peut être lue en format
boîte aux lettres.
