Lubricating cables and joints (fig. 49)
The condition of the outer sheathes of the throttle/cold
start cables should be checked at regular intervals.
The sheath should show no signs of pinching or cracking.
Work the controls to make sure the cables slide smoothly
inside the sheath: if you feel any friction or hard spots,
have the cable replaced by a Ducati Dealer or Authorized
Workshop.
To avoid any problems, periodically lubricate the ends of
the cables with SHELL Advance Grease or Retinax LX2.

In the case of the throttle cable, open the twistgrip by

undoing the two screws (1) and grease the end of the
cable and slide.

Warning
Close the twistgrip carefully, ensuring the cable fits
back into the slide.
Reinstall the cover and tighten down the screws (1) to
1.8 Nm.
To ensure smooth operation of the side stand joint,
clean off any dirt and apply SHELL Alvania R3 at all points
exposed to friction.
