Lubricating cables and joints (fig. 47)
The condition of the outer throttle cables should be
checked at regular intervals. There should be no signs
of pinching or cracking on the outer plastic sheath.
Operate the control to check that the inner cable slides
smoothly inside the outer cable: if you feel any friction or
snagging, have the cable renewed by a Ducati Dealer or

Authorized Workshop.
To prevent problems, periodically lubricate the ends
of each control cable with SHELL Advance Grease or
Retinax LX2.
In the case of the throttle cable, open the twistgrip
housing by unscrewing the two screws (1) and grease the
end of the cable and the race.

Warning
Close the twistgrip housing carefully, inserting the
cable in the race.
Refit the housing and tighten the screws (1) to 1.8 Nm.
To ensure smooth operation of the pivot on the side stand,
remove any dirt and apply SHELL Alvania R3 to all points
subject to friction.
