1) Remove the cap from the tilting shaft.
2) Pass the steering guide cable through the tilting
shaft and tighten the cap nut. Install the outboard
motor on the hull.
• Before installing the steering guide cable, apply
marine grease to the sliding surface of the
cable and the inner side of the cap assembly
and cap nut.

3) Apply the marine grease to the collar and to the
sliding surface of the steering rod.
4) Attach the steering rod to the inner hole in the
steering link plate and loosely tighten it with the
3/8-24 UNF bolt, washer, collar, nut and the self-
locking nut.
5) Connect the steering rod to the steering guide
cable with the 10 mm washers and self-locking
nut.
6) Tighten the self-locking nuts to the specified
torque.
Torque: 18 N . m (1.8 kgf . m, 13 lbf.ft)

• Connect the steering guide cable to the outer hole
in the steering link plate.

CAP ASSEMBLY
• After installation, turn the steering wheel right and
left and bring the right and left steering angles
equal by adjusting at the steering wheel side of the
steering guide cable.
• For further information regarding the steering cable,
refer to the boat manufacturer's operation manual.
