ACCESS DOOR RELEASE KNOB REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED:
• #2 Phillips Screwdriver
PROCEDURE:
Note
Refer to Figure 28,
page
1-66, for this procedure.
1.
Raise the siderail to be repaired to the highest position and apply the brakes.
2.
Open the access door to be repaired.
3.
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws (E) holding the defective release knob (F) together.
Remove the defective release knob.
4.
Reverse the above steps to install the new release knob.
5.
Verify proper operation of the access door before returning the stretcher to service.

ACCESS DOOR LATCH REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED:
• #1 Phillips Screwdriver
• #2 Phillips Screwdriver
• Small Regular Screwdriver
• 5/32 in. Allen Wrench
• OG2 Grease
PROCEDURE:

Refer to Figure 28,
page
1-66, for this procedure.
1.
Remove the access door (see "Access Door Replacement",
2.
Remove the colored label affixed to the outside of the upper cover of the access door.
3.
Using a #1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the four screws (M) holding the top half of the upper cover (N) to the
bottom half of the upper cover (W).
4.
Insert a small regular screwdriver between the two halves of the upper over to separate them. Use caution to avoid
scratching the covers or damaging the snap pins. Remove the access door upper cover.
5.
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the eight screws (T) holding the upper structural member (V) to the four
posts.
6.
Using a 5/32 in. Allen wrench, remove the two Allen screws (G) holding the hinge and structural member to the
last post.
7.
Remove the hinge and upper structural member. Do not remove the lower cover.
8.
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws (E) holding the defective release knob (F) together.
Remove the two defective locking bars (K) and the defective compression spring (L) from the post.
9.
Reverse the above steps to install the new locking bars and compression spring.
Note
Apply OG2 grease to the new compression spring before installing it.
10. Verify proper operation of the rail before returning the stretcher to service.
